Natty Naturals and Curl Junkie

I found out about both of these brands via Instagram due to Youtube sensations M.A.D. Curls and Curlyproverbz. M.A.D. Curls has a comprehensive video that covers almost all of Curl Junkie's products and Curlyproverbz has shared in multiple videos that the Natty Naturals Lemongrass leave-in conditioner is her holy grail product. So, I decided to combine these two brands to see how they work together and am thrilled with the results of my wash and go!

Natty Naturals

This brand is created by a husband and wife duo, Syeed and Dominique, who are passionate about creating safe products. The idea for creating personal care products stemmed from Dominique's desire to find clean products that addressed her then 8-year-old son's scalp condition. Her son had a severe scalp condition called Kerion and doctors told her that his hair would never grow back. She looked into different butters, oils and other natural alternatives and her son's hair grew back! As if her story wasn't already impressive enough, while she was homeschooling her two children during a time when her husband was also working long hours as a GM of a local restaurant in Chattanooga (shout-out to Chatt-town, my former stomping grounds), she created a hair and skin butter. After extensive popular demand from friends and family, she expanded the product line to include shampoos, conditioners, leave-in conditioners, butters etc!

Natty Moist Leave-in Conditioner
This leave-in conditioner is a joy and a privilege to use for so many reasons. First, the Lemongrass scent is simply breathtaking. It does not linger but if you enjoy lemon/citrus scents that are slightly earthy, this leave-in conditioner for you.  (Also note that you can alternatively request a fragrance-free version or coconut, orange cream, vanilla or pomegranate!) This conditioner has great slip and comes in 16oz and 32oz glass containers. This product can serve as a hair or body moisturizer. This leave-in conditioner is free from sulfates, silicones, parabens and phthalates. With leave-in conditioners I'm primarily looking for scent, moisture and whether the leave-in plays well together with other products. My hair felt soft and moisturized without feeling weighed down. Will I re-purchase? Absolutely. This is now a holy grail leave-in conditioner for me.

Curl Junkie

Curl Junkie was created by Marsha Coulton, a licensed cosmetologist. Her goal was to create one product that every person with textured hair could not live without. (Thank you Marsha for looking out for us!) Curl Junkie was birthed out of Marsha's frustration during beauty school to find products that worked well for her and for her clients with textured hair. (Lesson learned that we should create what we do not yet see!)

Pattern Pusha
This product makes me think of all of my favorite songs with the word "push" in it. Push It, Pusher Love Girl, Pusherman......This product will make you want to dance. :)

M.A.D. Curls, a mother/daughter duo on Instagram and Youtube raved about Curl Junkie so I had to try some of the products. The standout product for me is Pattern Pusha. In the DC summer heat and humidity, it has been challenging to find gels/stylers that can withstand the weather. Many of my stylers have glycerin and I find that I cannot use those products during the summer. Thankfully, Pattern Pusha does not have glycerin and is also free from sulfates, silicones, parabens and phthalates. This product can be used alone or with a leave-in conditioner layered underneath. I prefer to layer a leave-in conditioner under this product for extra moisture and it paired quite well with the Natty Moist leave-in conditioner. This product has a medium-thick consistency similar to flax seed gel. The fruity floral scent is pleasant and does not linger. This product only comes in a 16oz size but will last a long time. I love that it can be used alone or with another product layered underneath. My hair was defined and looked longer than it usually does which is always a welcome surprise. :) With a gel/styler I'm looking for hold, shine, and definition. This product gave me all three! Will I re-purchase? YES!
