Jim + Henry and Belle Bar Organic

I found out about Jim + Henry, a vegan haircare brand based in the UK,  via Instagram.  I was intrigued by this brand in particular due to the high level of transparency surrounding the ingredients used in the products. The founder of Jim+ Henry, Tammy, is super sweet, and is always responsive to emails and messages. There are currently four products in this line. There are four products in the line (two of which will be reviewed below) including an oil "Five," rinse-out conditioner/leave-in conditioner/daily moisturizer "Eight," a deep conditioner "Ten" and a cleanser "Nine."  The names of the products represent the number of ingredients in each product. These products are free from sulfates, silicones, parabens, and phthalates!

Jim + Henry
Nine
'Slippery, 'scuse me, please me.' The wise words of Migos came to mind as I used this cleanser for the first time. This cleanser has so much slip that I could detangle in the shower. A little goes a long way too which is great. The olive oil and rosemary scents are the most noticeable but again, they do not linger and are pleasant and light.  This is a holy grail cleanser for me!!!! It is hard to find a moisturizing cleanser that only requires me to use a small amount of product. Will I re-purchase? YES!!! Nine is the real MVP.....

Ten
This deep conditioner is comprised of 10 ingredients. For those of you who are familiar with "Eight," it is a slightly thicker version of that product.  The scent of this product, and all of the Jim+ Henry products is somewhat herbal. The rosemary scent is the strongest one, and if you are sensitive to scents, don't worry, the scents do not really linger. I used this deep conditioner and combined it with the Belle Bar Organic Cassia Gloss Hair Mask mixed with the Belle Bar Organic Amazon FenuGreek Regeneration Hair Mask. More on Belle Bar later....The one drawback with this deep conditioner is that there isn't much slip. HOWEVER, I was pleasantly surprised with my results. My hair felt extremely moisturized, soft and strong.  Will I re-purchase? Yes.

Belle Bar Organic
I also found out about Belle Bar Organic on Instagram. This is a family-owned business run by a mother and her two daughters. I was drawn to this brand in significant part due to curly influencer Curlyproverbz. Her hair is gorgeous, thick, long and healthy. Thus, whatever she is using, I'm interested in trying as well, particularly because she has an interest in ayurveda.

Belle Bar is a company that creates high-quality products products without using preservatives, toxins, water or fragrance. The brand carries hair and skincare products. The products I purchased were a part of the Curlyproverbz collaboration with her #BEASTMODE hair kit (shoutout to Marshawn Lynch...Go Hawks!) This kit includes a gloss mask (you have the option to choose Henna or Cassia. If you dye your hair, you will likely want to opt for Cassia as Henna deposits a small amount of color), a Green Tea Rinse, the "Methi" (FenuGreek) Infused Oil or the "Methi" (Fenugreek) Grapeseed Infused Oil, and the "Rhassoul" Hair Cleanser.  I also received the "Amazon" Intense Fenugreek Regeneration Hair Mask and my free product (the box comes with one free product) was the Charcoal Face Mask. In this post, I will review the CASSIA Gloss Mask, Amazon Mask, and the Hair Cleanser.

Rhassoul Hair Cleanser
This cleanser, like the masks, comes in powder form and is great for all hair types. The star ingredient is the Rhassoul clay which gently cleanses the hair and scalp without removing all of the protective sebum thus preventing hair breakage. This clay removes dirt, odor, and excessive oil from the hair. Vitamin C helps fight the bacteria on the scalp and Reetha tames dry and frizzy hair. I hopped in the shower and applied this product immediately after dampening my hair. I parted my hair several times and rubbed this product into my scalp. I then added the Jim+ Henry "Nine" cleanser to my scalp as well. My scalp and hair immediately felt cleansed and moisturizing after using this product. My only issue with this product is that application isn't exactly easy. I brought the packet in the shower and just wish there was an easier way to apply this product. By contrast, with the masks that are also in powder form, I can easily mix those into a bowl before applying to my hair. With this product, because it is in powder form, it is harder to apply in to the scalp while in the shower. Nevertheless, the results are great. Will I re-purchase? Maybe. I like the results but the product application process was somewhat challenging.

Cassia Hair Gloss Mask
In early 2018, I got pintura highlights (no bleach) at Diaspora Salon in Baltimore, MD. Because of that, I am particularly mindful of whether the products I use will strip my current color or deposit color into my hair. In the #BEASTMODE hair kit, you have the option to select the Henna mask which deposits color or the Cassia mask. I opted for the Cassia mask. This mask is designed to strengthen hair follicles, increase shine, and is great for weak or breaking hair. I mixed 1 teaspoon of this mask with my Jim + Henry "Ten" deep conditioner. Will I re-purchase? Yes. My hair was shiny and felt strong.

Amazon Intense FenuGreek Regeneration Hair Mask
This mask is great for all hair types and is designed to encourage hair growth. Fenugreek helps to prevent and treat existing hair loss. The ingredients in this product which include pumpkin, marshmallow root, neem oil aloe vera oil and goat milk among others, are designed to keep hair moisturized, pliable, and to prevent breakage. I mixed one teaspoon with my Jim + Henry "Ten" deep conditioner. I love how easily the Belle Bar's masks can be added to any conditioner. These products are also travel-friendly in the event you want to take them on the road! Will I re-purchase? Yes.

Hope this information is helpful to you on your clean beauty curly journey. :)
